DIY nuke monitoring: North Korea

Monday, October 09, 2006 (22:36 UTC)

Roll your own UN Security Council presentation condemning North Korea. Get your KMZ file with annotated North Korean nuclear test site locations from ArmsControlWonk.com, add a network link of recent earthquakes by the USGS, take a screenshot, and voila:

Of course, there is room for doubt as to whether the quake was caused by a proper nuclear explosion. (Via Greenpeace Sweden)

As distasteful as it now seems, the day of nukes being available to all the masses is upon us. But it may not be as insane as some would have us believe. MAD prevented the U.S. and Soviets from destroying one another and can still work. Who wants to be vaoporized out of existence. We don't have to worry about neutron bombs destroying humans and leaving builtind intact. It's the biological menance that now threatens to destroy mankind and needs to be addressed stringently. Stealthily introduced into our food chain it could prove far more destructive and covert than any nuclear strike from afar. And who watches our fields and livestock. Nobody. Not yet.
